People living with diabetes are more likely to develop heart disease at a younger age than those without diabetes. Over time high blood sugar can lead to damage of the vessels and nerves around the heart and in turn cause heart disease.
The most common cause of death in adults with diabetes is heart disease or stroke.
One good thing to know is that if you control your blood sugar, you can lessen the risk of many complications including a heart attack and or a stroke
